Fusion: Critical Mass
Fusion: Critical Mass
There is no optimal strategy.
Fusion: Critical Mass is a falling-block game where blocks do not disappear.
They combine.
As blocks connect, mass accumulates.
As mass accumulates, instability increases.
At sufficient density, energy is released.
The game continues.
How It Works
-
Blocks fall into a confined space.
-
Adjacent blocks fuse instead of clearing.
-
Connected structures grow heavier and less stable.
-
Instability rises regardless of intent.
-
When critical mass is reached, an energy release occurs.
This is not a failure state.
It is a phase change.
What Is Measured
-
Total mass accumulated
-
Energy released
-
Duration of delay
Survival is not evaluated.
What the Game Observes
Fusion recognises repetition within a session.
Over time, it may:
-
Adjust its behaviour slightly
-
Alter its narration
-
Acknowledge previously observed outcomes
Nothing is stored permanently.
Recognition is temporary.
Controls
-
Left / Right — Move
-
Down — Accelerate descent
-
Up / Space — Rotate
Audio begins on start.
Notes
-
Every run ends.
-
Some runs last longer than others.
-
Outcomes are recorded without judgement.
-
The game does not explain itself further.
Content Warning
Mild existential discomfort.
Persistent inevitability.
